Charli xcx & PinkPantheress Slam Peppa Pig for Shading Clairo: ‘Let’s F— Her Up’
The children's cartoon character Peppa Pig has become the unlikely centre of a light-hearted pop music spat after appearing to snub singer Clairo during Pitchfork's "Over/Under" video series on Tuesday (7 July). Asked whether Clairo was over- or underrated, Peppa gave the camera a pointed look and replied, "I don't know her." The remark prompted fellow artists Charli xcx and PinkPantheress to rush to Clairo's defence, turning a novelty interview into a widely shared online moment.
Charli xcx texted Clairo a screenshot of the comment with the message "Let's f— her up," which Clairo posted on X, while PinkPantheress — whom Peppa had actually praised as "underrated" — declared loyalty to Clairo, writing that nothing was "sweet until you put respect on clairo." The apparent feud may trace back to Clairo's own 2019 "Over/Under" episode, in which she joked about Peppa being "7'1" and "the tallest pig in the world," a comment Peppa may have taken as a jab. In the same video, Peppa named numerous pop favourites, including Rihanna, Beyoncé and Dua Lipa, and vowed to one day become "the biggest pop star ever."
