Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi reportedly bought a round of drinks for an entire pub of England supporters after the Three Lions beat Mexico 3-2 at the 2026 World Cup. The gesture, made at the Marlborough pub in Mayfair, London, was notable because Capaldi's own nation, Scotland, had already crashed out of the tournament at the group stage.

Capaldi watched the match alongside singer Rita Ora, and one punter told The Sun that bar staff were instructed to charge all drinks to him, with the tab reaching almost £2,000. Ora shared clips of the celebrations online, and the pair reportedly sang each other's songs before joining in with chants of "Football's coming home". The news comes ahead of Capaldi headlining BST Hyde Park on 11 and 12 July, with the first show set to be livestreamed free on YouTube using a 26-camera setup and drone cinematography.
