Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson will not face criminal charges following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, though his NFL future remains uncertain. The 27-year-old was detained after a late-night incident on 9 June in Los Angeles, but prosecutors have declined to pursue the case, meaning he avoids both felony and misdemeanour charges. The outcome matters because Jackson, a recently well-paid starter, still faces a separate league investigation that could affect his career.

According to the New York Post, the District Attorney's Office had already declined to file felony charges, and the city attorney has now also passed on misdemeanour charges, while Jackson's pregnant girlfriend voluntarily dismissed her temporary restraining order. Police said the dispute began when Jackson believed she was secretly recording him on her phone, and he allegedly left scratch marks on her arm during a struggle over the device; he was released on a $50,000 bond. The case drew comparisons to a previous NFL suspension for secretly recording a woman during a sexual encounter, which led to a federal lawsuit settled in April. Despite the dropped charges, the NFL is conducting its own independent investigation under its Personal Conduct Policy. Jackson signed a three-year, $57 million contract extension last year.
