Speaking at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, "The Sopranos" creator David Chase said he is considering a film or television project about Italian Americans who relocate to Italy, remarking that people are leaving "because things in our country are questionable". The seven-time Emmy winner, who was giving an industry talk on the impact of his HBO drama, envisages a story following four Italian Americans who "go back to the old country" and the surprises that await them there.

Chase noted the growing trend of Americans buying cheap or near-free homes in Italy's abandoned towns, citing former "Sopranos" star Lorraine Bracco, who played Dr Jennifer Melfi and reportedly acquired a property "for nothing". He also expressed a desire to reunite with four actors — John Magaro, Jack Huston, Will Brill and Bella Heathcote — from his 2012 film "Not Fade Away", a 1960s New Jersey tale about friends forming a rock band. Separately, Chase is already reteaming with HBO on a series titled "Project: MKUltra", based on John Lisle's book about CIA chemist Sidney Gottlieb.
