Netflix Sets ‘Heartstopper: Ending on a Hi’ Special

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 months ago

Netflix has announced a behind-the-scenes special titled Heartstopper: Ending on a Hi, marking the conclusion of its acclaimed LGBTQ+ teen romance series starring Kit Connor and Joe Locke. The special draws on previously unseen archival footage spanning every season through to the final film, and brings together the cast, creator Alice Oseman, executive producer Patrick Walters and fans to reflect on the show's creative journey, cultural impact and lasting legacy.

Directed by Luke Hyams and produced by Pangaea, the special will be released on 24 July 2026, following the concluding feature film Heartstopper: Forever, which premieres on 17 July. The film sees Nick preparing to leave for university while Charlie gains independence at school, testing their relationship at a distance; it was directed by Wash Westmoreland and written by Oseman, with Connor and Locke serving as executive producers for the first time. Notably, Olivia Colman, who played Nick's mother in the first two seasons, was recast, with Anna Maxwell Martin taking over the role. Originally a webcomic on Tumblr and Tapas that amassed over 124 million views, Heartstopper spans six volumes, and Netflix's adaptation premiered in April 2022, with all three seasons ranking in the platform's Top 10.
