Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse, Social Platform Zigazoo Launch Studio to Develop Content From Young Creators (EXCLUSIVE)
Brent Montgomery's entertainment and investment company Wheelhouse has partnered with Zigazoo, a TikTok-style social media platform aimed at children and teenagers, to launch a joint venture called Zigazoo Studios. The new studio will develop content, live experiences, consumer products, brand partnerships and other business ventures built around emerging Gen Alpha creators from the Zigazoo community. The move matters because it seeks to provide young creators and their families with professional infrastructure traditionally reserved for established talent, positioning itself as a "safe" alternative amid growing concern over children's social media use.
Zigazoo Studios will begin rolling out its initiatives later this year, with its first offerings due to be unveiled at an inaugural industry event at Wheelhouse's Los Angeles headquarters. The venture follows years of investment in Zigazoo by Wheelhouse, which owns production labels including Spoke Studios, Campfire Studios, Butternut and Twist, and whose credits include "America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders". Zigazoo has attracted interest from brands such as the NBA, MLB, WWE, DreamWorks, Paramount Pictures, Amazon, Apple TV+, Crayola and Netflix. Executives noted the launch comes as the UK and Australia have moved to restrict minors' social media access, with similar legislation gaining momentum in the US; Montgomery said Zigazoo is the only social platform he allows his own children to use.
