Having already earned a Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination for the film Sentimental Value, she received a Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy nomination for her role in Apple TV's Margo's Got Money Troubles, announced on the morning of 8 July 2026.

This marks Fanning's second Emmy nomination in the category, following her 2022 recognition for the Hulu series The Great, while Sentimental Value represented her first Oscar nomination. Margo's Got Money Troubles, based on Rufi Thorpe's best-selling novel, follows a character who turns to OnlyFans work to support herself and her newborn after dropping out of Fullerton College; the show earned eight Emmy nominations for its first season, including Outstanding Comedy Series, and has been renewed for a second season. The most recent actors to achieve the same double were Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Gosling in 2024.
