Arthur Fery, a 23-year-old British wildcard ranked 114th in the world, has reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon 2026, an outcome few would have predicted given that he had never previously progressed beyond the second round of a Grand Slam. His run matters because he is the lowest-ranked player to reach the tournament's last four since Goran Ivanisevic in 2001, and it has captivated the home crowd at the All England Club, close to where Fery grew up.

Fery secured his place by dismantling world number 10 and French Open runner-up Flavio Cobolli in straight sets, in his shortest match of the tournament at two hours and 14 minutes. His earlier matches were far more gruelling, including five-set thrillers against Zizou Bergs and Grigor Dimitrov, taking his total court time to 16 hours and 20 minutes. Figures including John McEnroe and Tim Henman praised his composure, movement and self-belief. He now faces Germany's world number three Alexander Zverev, the reigning French Open champion, in Friday's semi-final.
