Ten years after its cinematic release, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has enjoyed an unexpected surge in popularity on streaming, ranking among the most-watched titles on Hulu in the United States. The renewed interest comes as anticipation builds for an upcoming Resident Evil reboot, directed by Zach Cregger (Weapons), which is due out in a few months and promises a more faithful, modern-day adaptation of the video game series.

The Final Chapter is the sixth instalment in the original film series and a direct sequel to 2012's Resident Evil: Retribution. It was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who helmed four of the films and wrote all six. Starring Milla Jovovich as Alice, the story follows her rogue mission to storm the Umbrella Corporation's headquarters beneath Raccoon City, where she faces the Red Queen (Ever Anderson) in a battle for humanity's survival. Beyond Hulu, the film has hit No. 1 on Sony Pictures Core in Japan and is trending on Google in Uganda.
