Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien has released his one-off single 'Abbeycwmhir' digitally, having previously issued it only as a seven-inch vinyl single in May. The track — whose title translates as 'Abbey In The Long Valley' and is named after a village in the valley of the Nant Clywedog in Powys, Wales — follows his recent solo album 'Blue Morpho', which NME awarded four stars, calling it "the sound of healing".

'Blue Morpho' is the follow-up to O'Brien's 2020 solo debut 'Earth', recorded under the moniker EOB, and he reflected to NME on emerging from "a tough period" feeling "more whole". He is set to tour Europe and the UK in October 2026 alongside musical director Dave Okumu and ESKA under the billing 'An Evening With… Blue Morpho', with dates in Amsterdam, Milan, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Groningen and London's Barbican. Separately, O'Brien has said Radiohead plan to play "20 shows each year" on a different continent from 2027, while Thom Yorke is expected to release an album this year.
