Bristol disco-duo Getdown Services have released a new single titled 'Cha Cha Slide', which they describe as the "saddest song we've ever written". The downbeat track is the latest preview from their forthcoming second album, 'Massive Champion', marking a shift towards more emotional and absurd territory for a band better known for their energetic, unhinged sound.

The single follows earlier taster 'I Can't Die Like That' and comes after the group's 2023 cult debut 'Crisps'. Vocalist and guitarist Josh Law said the song reflects a childhood feeling of not knowing how to behave at social occasions and the lifelong trial and error of connecting with others, while its video features someone in a giant Minion costume dancing on a clifftop. 'Massive Champion' is due for release on 14 August via Breakfast Records, ahead of a UK and Ireland headline tour opening in Cardiff on 19 November and ending with two homecoming shows at the Beacon in Bristol on 16 and 17 January 2027. The duo also have summer festival dates lined up at Latitude, Green Man and Truck, and recently played the Harry Styles-curated Meltdown Festival.

New here? Start with this

Getdown Services are a two-person disco outfit from Bristol who built a following with a lively, offbeat sound. They released their first album, 'Crisps', in 2023, and are now preparing a follow-up called 'Massive Champion', due out on 14 August through the label Breakfast Records.

'Cha Cha Slide' is one of several songs released ahead of that album to give fans a taste of what to expect. Unlike the band's usual upbeat style, it leans into sadder, more reflective territory, with the group's singer and guitarist, Josh Law, linking it to childhood social anxiety and the ongoing struggle to connect with other people.

The album's release will be followed by a tour across the UK and Ireland running from November into January 2027, alongside festival appearances over the summer. This makes the new single part of a wider rollout building anticipation for the record and the live dates that follow it.
