The DaVinci International Film Festival (DIFF) in Los Angeles has announced that Randall Wallace, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Braveheart, will receive its Visionary Award at the festival's opening night on 25 September 2026. The prize honours "exceptional creative architects of cinema whose enduring bodies of work inspire and transform global audiences", and Wallace becomes only the second recipient after actor Michael J. Fox took the inaugural award in 2024.

The opening night, held at the AMC Theaters at The Grove, will feature a red carpet, a live traditional bagpipe processional and a screening of Braveheart, followed by a Q&A and keynote with Wallace. Beyond Braveheart, Wallace has directed films including The Man in the Iron Mask and Secretariat, reunited with Mel Gibson on the 2002 war film We Were Soldiers, and more recently co-wrote the scripts for Gibson's upcoming The Resurrection of the Christ films. DIFF founder and executive director Chadwick Pelletier praised Wallace as "a true architect of cinema", while Wallace called the recognition "a beautiful affirmation of that chase". The festival, now in its eighth edition, runs over two days.
