T.I. Signs Publishing Deal With Reservoir Covering Entire Catalog

Billboard · 2 months ago

American rapper T.I. has signed a publishing agreement with the music company Reservoir, covering his entire publishing catalogue including both past and future works, the firm announced on 9 July. The deal brings one of hip-hop's most influential figures and bodies of work under Reservoir's roster, and follows the release of what T.I. has described as his final album, Kill the King, on 26 June. T.I. said he was excited to build a partnership that would help diversify the business and expand the reach of his catalogue.

The agreement encompasses landmark releases such as his 2006 album King, whose single "What You Know" won the Grammy for best rap solo performance and which became his first Billboard 200 No. 1. His 2008 album Paper Trail, one of three Billboard 200 chart-toppers, featured collaborations with Jay-Z, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Lil Wayne, and produced Hot 100 No. 1 "Live Your Life" alongside "Dead and Gone", which reached No. 2. His single "Whatever You Like" also topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks. Reservoir executives praised T.I. — dubbed the "King of the South" for putting Atlanta's rap scene on the map — as a culturally significant powerhouse, while his final album, Kill the King, debuted at No. 30 on the Billboard 200 and No. 10 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
