"Dukes of Hazzard" actor and country musician John Schneider has spoken publicly for the first time about a long-running legal dispute with his second ex-wife, Elvira Schneider, over spousal support. Schneider told Fox News Digital that he does not understand why a former spouse would expect continued financial support after ending a marriage, framing the matter as a "negotiation" that he hopes will soon be resolved through cooler heads rather than the courts.

Elvira filed for divorce in 2014, and Schneider noted that the dispute has now dragged on for roughly 12 years. He made his comments while in Washington, D.C., where he performed a 45-minute concert on the Freedom Stage marking America's 250th anniversary. His remarks came weeks after Elvira alleged in court documents obtained by Fox News Digital that he owes more than $2,382,548 in unpaid spousal support, including over $984,000 in accrued interest; her filing also reportedly seeks portions of his Screen Actors Guild pension and Social Security benefits.
