Toho Studios has released a new trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the eagerly awaited sequel to 2023's acclaimed Godzilla Minus One, once again written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki. The film continues the story of the Shikishima family and, according to the footage, sees humanity grow so desperate to destroy Godzilla that it resorts to dropping a nuclear bomb in the hope of killing the monster before it destroys the world. The trailer promises the same blend of human drama and large-scale destruction that made the original such a well-received surprise.

Set in 1949, two years after the events of the first film, the story involves a trip to New York for the creature, as hinted at in an earlier teaser. Returning cast members include Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Miou Tanaka and Sae Nagatani. Godzilla Minus One made history as the first non-English-language film to win the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, and Minus Zero is expected to be a contender in next year's awards race. The sequel premieres in Japan on 3rd November and worldwide on 6th November 2026.
