Sony has released the IER-M500, a new pair of professional-grade in-ear monitors (IEMs) aimed at musicians and sound technicians for use on stage. The launch matters because it marks Sony's first new high-end IEMs in some time, expanding its professional audio range and giving performers another option for reliable on-stage monitoring.

The earphones are designed around fit and comfort during long wear, offering four sizes of noise-isolating eartips and Sony's "ear fit supporters" to hold them in place during active performance. Noise isolation, essential in stage settings, is provided by a fully sealed structure and a large acoustic chamber. The IER-M500 joins Sony's professional line-up, which includes the MDR-M1 studio headphones released in 2024. Pre-sales begin today at a suggested retail price of $120, with clear, black, or red and blue colour options.
