Boy, 10, SLEEPWALKED out of his house in the middle of the night… before tragedy struck
A 10-year-old boy has been found dead in a pond in northern Kansas City after apparently sleepwalking out of his family's home in the early hours of Thursday. Jackson Georgari was last captured on doorbell camera footage at around midnight, and his body was recovered roughly 12 hours later, about a mile south of where he lived. The death highlights the potential dangers of sleepwalking, particularly as the boy's family said he had wandered from home while asleep on previous occasions.
After the boy was reported missing on Thursday morning, a large multi-agency operation involving four police departments, the Kansas City Fire Department and neighbourhood volunteers was launched, using drones and K-9 units. Officers found his body around noon, and fire and rescue personnel were unable to resuscitate him. Police said there were no immediate signs of foul play, though the death remains under investigation and a medical examiner is working to determine the cause. His older sister, Semina Richard, said Jackson had sleepwalked before, including once in San Diego when a stranger found him on the street and called 911, and again after the family moved to Missouri.
