A Sheffield beauty spot is experiencing repeated damage from digging activities by an unidentified individual searching for earthworms, likely for fishing bait. The Birley Spa Preservation Trust reports that the ongoing excavation has disturbed the natural landscape, damaged footpaths, and eroded the banks of a stream within the park.

The volunteer-led trust has documented escalating damage, including encroachment on a £5,000 decorative stone sculpture that the group commissioned for the community.
