British tennis player Arthur Fery has reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon, becoming an unexpected home favourite at the 2026 Championships. The 23-year-old former public schoolboy, dubbed "King Arthur" and "Cross Channel Fery", sealed his last-four place with a match lasting two hours and 14 minutes and now stands two wins away from the title.

Fery met Queen Camilla near the Royal Box, telling her that his birthday falls on Sunday and that reaching the final would be a fitting way to mark it. To do so he must beat the imposing German Alexander Zverev, the 6ft 6in world-class opponent standing between him and the final, in what the writer casts as a heavily one-sided Anglo-German semi-final on Friday afternoon.
