Madonna has topped the Australian albums chart with her new release Confessions II (via Warner Records), giving the pop veteran her 13th No. 1 on the ARIA Chart and her 22nd top 10 album overall. The achievement places her among a select group of acts, with only Jimmy Barnes, The Beatles and Taylor Swift having recorded more No. 1 albums in Australia, according to ARIA. Barnes remains the all-time leader with 22 chart-toppers, including 16 as a solo artist and six with Cold Chisel.

Confessions II follows a string of previous Madonna No. 1s stretching from True Blue in 1986 to Finally Enough Love in 2022, and its swift arrival knocked Olivia Rodrigo's album from the top spot, down from 2 to 1. UK newcomer Sienna Spiro completed the podium with her debut, Visitor, new at No. 3, while Deep Purple entered at No. 19 with their 24th studio album, Splat!. On the ARIA Singles Chart, Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" claimed a fifth non-consecutive week at No. 1, and US pop star Sombr climbed from 46 to 27 with "My Body Isn't Ready" in a week that featured no new single releases.
