Phil Collins expects awkward Oasis encounter at 2026 Rock Hall

NME · 5 hours ago

Phil Collins has now spoken directly about the prospect of meeting Oasis at the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, saying it will be “interesting” because the bands are likely to cross paths at a pre-event lunch. The new development matters because it adds Collins’ own, relatively conciliatory response to a long-running public feud, reviving attention on a decades-old clash just as both acts are set to be honoured at the same high-profile event.

In a new interview with MOJO, Collins suggested Noel Gallagher may have called him “the antichrist” after seeing Genesis perform ‘Mama’ in the 1980s, and said he was prepared to give him “the benefit of the doubt”. Noel had previously attacked Collins in interviews and in the 2016 documentary *Supersonic*, while Collins later described Oasis as rude and overrated. Both are among the 2026 inductees, alongside Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan; the class includes six British acts, a new Rock Hall record, and marks Collins’ first solo induction after entering with Genesis in 2010.
