Kris Jenner's mother, Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon, has died at the age of 91, the Kardashian matriarch confirmed in an emotional Instagram post on 16 July 2026. Shannon was a familiar figure to fans of the family's reality television output, and her death marks the loss of a matriarchal presence who spanned several generations of the Kardashian-Jenner family.

Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon was the mother of Kris Jenner, a television personality and business manager best known as the central figure in the Kardashian-Jenner family. Jenner has six children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob Kardashian from her first marriage, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner from her second.
The family became internationally known through the reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which followed their personal lives and business ventures from 2007 to 2021. A newer series, The Kardashians, has continued on the streaming service Hulu.
