Liverpool midfielder Szoboszlai signs new five-year deal
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a new five-year contract, ending months of speculation about his future and keeping him at Anfield until 2031. The deal, agreed after talks between his representatives and sporting director Richard Hughes accelerated in recent weeks, comes after the Hungarian was Liverpool's standout performer last season and is seen as a significant boost for the club ahead of Andoni Iraola's first summer in charge.
Szoboszlai joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £60m in 2023 and scored 13 goals with 12 assists last season, earning him the club's player-of-the-season award despite a disappointing 2025-26 campaign overall. With Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate departing this summer and Alisson and Virgil van Dijk's contracts expiring next year, the 25-year-old's commitment is viewed as key to retaining leadership within the squad, and he is now a strong contender to become Liverpool's new vice-captain.
