‘Heartstopper Forever’ Is the Perfect Ending to the Beloved Netflix Series | Review
Netflix's coming-of-age drama Heartstopper is drawing to a close with a feature-length finale, Heartstopper Forever, released two years after the third season. The film wraps up the story of teenage couple Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke), following their romance as they confront the fear and uncertainty of growing up and facing separation.
The 114-minute film is written by Alice Oseman, based on the sixth and final volume of her graphic novels, alongside elements of her 2015 novella Nick & Charlie; Netflix reportedly opted for a film over a planned fourth season due to viewing figures and contractual considerations. Charlie campaigns to become head boy while Nick prepares to leave for university, straining their relationship, while supporting characters such as Elle (Yasmin Finney), Tao (William Gao) and Isaac (Tobie Henderson) return with reduced roles, and Anna Maxwell Martin takes over the part of Nick's mother from Olivia Colman. Despite the condensed runtime leaving less room for the wider cast, the review concludes the film delivers a fitting and emotionally satisfying send-off for its central couple.
- Heartstopper ends with Netflix film Heartstopper Forever, not a fourth season
- Film focuses on Nick and Charlie facing university separation and fears
