Leeds sign £34.1m defender Muharemovic
Leeds United have signed defender Tarik Muharemovic from Serie A club Sassuolo for £34.1m, agreeing a five-year deal at Elland Road. The 23-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international replaces Pascal Struijk, who left for Brighton in a £20m move in June, and becomes Leeds' second summer signing after Harry Wilson's free transfer from Fulham.
Muharemovic, who was born in Ljubljana and began his career in Austria before an unsuccessful spell at Juventus, made three appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup, including a last-32 defeat by the United States. Juventus are reportedly due 50% of the transfer fee under a clause from their earlier sale of the player to Sassuolo. Speaking after the move, Muharemovic said he would "give everything" for Leeds and fight for every ball.
