Top Gun Officially Returns With Shock New Release Next Month
Top Gun: Maverick is crossing over into the video game Battlefield 6, with a new seasonal event bringing the film's characters and story into the war shooter from 18th August. The tie-in gives fans a fresh dose of Top Gun content while they wait for Paramount's still-undated sequel to Maverick, which is officially in development with Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Glen Powell expected to return.
The Battlefield 6 event will introduce two new themed modes, Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep and Carrier Strike, letting players take on the roles of Top Gun characters including Rooster (Miles Teller) and Bob (Lewis Pullman). From 18th August, players will also get new challenges, cosmetics and a limited-time in-game currency. The crossover follows a strong year for the franchise, after Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick returned to cinemas earlier in 2026 for the original film's 40th anniversary, helping push Maverick's global box office past $1.5 billion.
