## Summary

New developments on election day include Pennsylvania extending voting hours at three precincts after technical delays and Michigan officials challenging federal monitors’ questions about poll workers’ training. The Justice Department has also widened a criminal investigation into possible voter confusion in Alaska, sending target letters to Democratic attorney Marc Elias and others.

The midterm elections are widely seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump and will determine control of Congress. Democrats are projected to win the three seats needed to retake the House, while the Senate outcome remains uncertain. In Pennsylvania, the affected precincts will stay open for 30 extra minutes, with provisional ballots used after the statewide 8pm closing time.
