A 10-foot great white shark was filmed swimming close to a group of young swimmers off the Southern California coastline, with the children apparently unaware of the predator nearby. The footage was captured by drone photographer Carlos Gauna, known as the "Malibu Artist," who said the encounter was one of the few times he had felt genuinely uneasy while observing sharks, underlining how frequently large sharks pass unnoticed near popular swimming spots.

The sighting is one of several recent shark encounters captured on drone footage along the California coast, including a separate incident at Seascape Beach in Aptos, where a photographer used his drone's motor noise to warn a surfer that a shark was circling nearby before it swam away. Such footage has increasingly been used to highlight how close sharks can come to unsuspecting beachgoers without incident, though experts continue to urge caution and awareness in coastal waters known for shark activity.
