## Key points

- The article recommends ten lesser-remembered HBO series.
- The picks span comedy, crime, history and supernatural drama.
- *Rome* ended after two seasons because of high costs.

## Summary

The article highlights ten HBO series that it says have been overlooked since their original runs, despite strong casts and stories. It argues they are worth revisiting, pointing to a range of genres and styles rather than the network’s best-known hits.

Examples include *Hung*, about a financially desperate teacher who becomes a sex worker, and *The Leftovers*, which follows survivors after two per cent of the world’s population disappears. *Rome* drew large audiences and awards but ended after two seasons because of its high production costs, while the four-part *Landscapers* is a true-crime black comedy inspired by real events.
