The Great Wall, Matt Damon's 2016 fantasy epic directed by Zhang Yimou, is now streaming for free on Tubi, giving audiences a chance to revisit a lesser-known entry in the actor's filmography a decade after its release. The film sees mercenaries William Garin (Damon) and Pero Tovar (Pedro Pascal) uncover the true purpose of China's Great Wall: defending against a horde of monstrous creatures called the Tao Tei, alongside an elite group of warriors known as the Nameless Order.

Ahead of its release, the film attracted controversy over accusations of "white saviour" casting due to Damon's leading role, though director Zhang Yimou defended the production, noting its predominantly Chinese cast and crew and its aim to bring Chinese-rooted storytelling to a global blockbuster audience.
