The Big Bang Theory, which concluded in 2019, has become the second most-watched programme on American streaming services, demonstrating the enduring appeal of the long-running sitcom. Seven years after its finale, the show generated unprecedented viewing figures on HBO Max, outperforming current popular series and proving that established television content remains highly competitive in the streaming landscape.

During the week of 31 August to 6 September, The Big Bang Theory accumulated 1.071 billion minutes watched on HBO Max, trailing only Prime Video's Reacher at 1.246 billion minutes. The show ranked first among all acquired streaming titles and surpassed contemporary hits such as Ted Lasso, Outer Banks and Lioness. The original series ran for 12 seasons and 279 episodes between 2007 and 2019, with lead actor Jim Parsons winning four Primetime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Sheldon Cooper, and the franchise has since expanded with spinoffs including Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.
