- James Marsters narrates an excerpt featuring a rooftop fight and rescue.

## Summary

Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunters universe is beginning its final trilogy with *The Last King of Faerie*, due on 3 November. The launch matters because it opens the concluding series in a fantasy world that has grown from the original *Mortal Instruments* books into a large collection of novels and other adaptations.

Set four years after *The Dark Artifices*, the novel follows Dru Blackthorne, who is taken to Faerie by Prince Ash, and Ty and Kit as they respond to a disappearance. An excerpt narrated by James Marsters features Dru fighting someone impersonating Jace Herondale before Ash rescues her; the article says the scene sets up their complicated relationship. Clare’s series began with *City of Bones* in 2007.
