## Key points

- Two people, including a 13-year-old, were arrested.
- A 12-year-old girl was wounded in the Bronx shooting.
- The suspected gunman remains at large.

## Summary

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy and 26-year-old Destin Burgess in connection with a gang-related shooting in the Bronx that wounded a 12-year-old girl. The arrests matter because the girl was hit by gunfire while going to meet a friend, and the suspected gunman and another man remain at large.

The shooting happened at about 8.30pm on 10 October in Westchester Square, after gunmen allegedly spotted rivals and shouted a chant linked to the Makk Ballas gang. The girl was shot in the stomach and right foot, underwent surgery, and was taken to hospital by a passing driver. Neither arrested person is accused of firing the shots; Burgess faces $15,000 bail, and the teenager’s case is being handled in Family Court.
