Two instalments from the Star Ocean franchise are now purchasable through GOG without digital restrictions, marking their first availability on a DRM-free storefront despite existing on Steam for several years. The titles—The Divine Force and The Second Story R—offer consumers ownership without accounts or platform dependencies.

Both games have been enrolled in GOG's preservation initiative, guaranteeing technical compatibility with future operating systems. The publisher optimised them for contemporary input devices and modern systems, though notably absent is the oldest Star Ocean PC release, The Last Hope remaster from 2017, creating an incomplete series catalogue. GOG stated it is prioritising Linux platform support for its library.
