Kane Parsons’ film *Backrooms* begins streaming on HBO Max on 25 September 2026 after a successful theatrical release. The film adapts the online Backrooms phenomenon into a science-fiction horror thriller, following furniture-shop owner Clark as he discovers a crack leading to an apparently endless maze beneath his store.

Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film expands Parsons’ *Kane Pixels* web series, which grew from a 2019 4chan post about “noclipping” out of reality. It develops the original concept’s VHS-style imagery, fictional research history and unsettling use of ordinary spaces, presenting the maze as frightening because its familiar corridors, offices and retail environments are arranged in impossible ways.
