3 ‘Doctor Who’ Stars Officially Set To Reunite in New Murder Mystery
Peter Capaldi has joined the recurring cast of Only Murders in the Building’s sixth series, reuniting him with fellow former Doctor Who leads David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker. The development is notable because the Hulu comedy-mystery will bring together three actors who have played the Doctor, while moving its setting to the UK for the first time.
Capaldi played the Doctor from 2013 to 2017 and is best known to many viewers as Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It; his new role has not been disclosed. The series’ wider guest cast includes Richard Ayoade, Jennifer Saunders, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman and Nicola Coughlan, alongside other Doctor Who-linked actors such as Derek Jacobi and Jim Broadbent.

Only Murders in the Building is a comedy-mystery series about three neighbours who investigate deaths connected to the buildings and places around them. It stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, and each series introduces a new case and a changing group of guest actors.
Doctor Who is a long-running BBC science-fiction drama centred on the Doctor, a time-travelling alien who can change appearance through regeneration. David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and Peter Capaldi have each played different versions of the character, making their appearance in the same production unusual for fans of the programme.
The new series is set to move the show’s action to the UK, after earlier stories were mainly based in New York. Its guest cast brings together actors from British comedy, drama and science fiction, alongside the show’s regular central trio.
