## Key points

- Netflix has three recommended thrillers for the weekend.
- The picks are *Psycho*, *Jaws* and *Green Room*.
- Each builds fear through suspense and escalating danger.

## Summary

The article recommends three tense thrillers on Netflix for the weekend of 31 October to 1 November: Alfred Hitchcock’s *Psycho*, Steven Spielberg’s *Jaws* and Jeremy Saulnier’s *Green Room*. It argues that suspense and anticipation can make thrillers as unsettling as horror films.

*Psycho* follows Marion Crane to the Bates Motel, where she meets Norman Bates; the article highlights Hitchcock’s atmosphere, Bernard Herrmann’s score and Anthony Perkins’s performance. *Jaws* centres on a team hunting a great white shark threatening a seaside town, with the unseen danger sustaining suspense. In *Green Room*, a punk band is trapped at a skinhead bar led by Patrick Stewart’s menacing character, in a film the article describes as intensely stressful.
