## Key points

- HBO has several ambitious shows in development.
- The article highlights *Dune: Prophecy*, *The Chain* and *Crazy Rich Asians*.
- Their appeal rests on rich stories and creative teams.

## Summary

The article ranks six upcoming HBO shows by how eagerly the writer is anticipating them, arguing that promising source material, unfinished stories and ambitious creative teams give the projects room to make an impact. Its enthusiasm is tempered by the uncertainty of judging shows before they have been filmed.

Among the projects discussed are a second season of *Dune: Prophecy*, which will continue the Harkonnen sisters’ political struggle; Damon Lindelof’s eight-episode adaptation of *The Chain*, starring Jodie Comer; and an eight-episode *Crazy Rich Asians* sequel series with Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Ronny Chieng and Michelle Yeoh returning. The article highlights the potential for deeper character drama and expanded stories, while noting that the first season of *Dune: Prophecy* sometimes let mythology overshadow relationships.
