‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Is Getting a New Strategy Board Game
Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
Newly reported context is that Sarah J. Maas has regained the adaptation rights to A Court of Thorns and Roses after Hulu’s planned television adaptation was cancelled, potentially allowing her greater creative control over future screen projects. Meanwhile, the series is expanding into tabletop gaming this autumn with A Court of Thorns and Roses: Fate and Favor, an original strategy game focused on the political rivalries of Prythian rather than a simple branded reskin.
Goliath Games will release the game in October for $24.99, with standard, Target-exclusive and bookseller editions planned. Up to seven players will lead the Night, Day, Dawn, Winter, Summer, Spring or Autumn Courts, using alliances, Court powers, character abilities, event cards and fate tokens to gain influence; it will arrive alongside two forthcoming novels, book six on 27 October and book seven on 12 January 2027.
- ACOTAR gains a strategy board game this October.
- Maas has regained screen adaptation rights.
- Two new ACOTAR novels are also scheduled.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a fantasy romance series by the American author Sarah J. Maas. It follows Feyre Archeron, a young woman drawn into Prythian, a land divided between powerful faerie courts, where politics, magic and personal rivalries shape events.
The books have built a large international readership and have already expanded beyond their original story through companion novels and merchandise. Prythian’s seven courts, including the Night and Spring Courts, are led by High Lords and have competing interests, providing the setting for stories and games based on the series.
Screen adaptation rights determine who may turn a book into television or film, and an author’s involvement can vary under such agreements. Tabletop strategy games use rules, cards and player decisions to simulate competition or cooperation, rather than simply retelling a plot.
