Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses will receive an original strategy board game, Fate and Favor, this October. The release extends the bestselling romantasy series beyond books at a time of renewed activity for the franchise, including forthcoming novels and possible future screen adaptations under Maas’ greater control.
Published by Goliath Games, the £24.99-equivalent game supports up to seven players, each leading one of Prythian’s seven Courts to compete for influence through alliances, abilities, event cards and fate tokens. Standard, Target-exclusive and bookseller editions are planned; the sixth ACOTAR novel is due on 27 October, followed by a seventh on 12 January 2027, while Hulu’s television adaptation has been cancelled.

A Court of Thorns and Roses is a fantasy romance series by the American author Sarah J. Maas. It follows Feyre Archeron, a young woman drawn into Prythian, a land divided between powerful faerie courts, where politics, magic and personal rivalries shape events.
The books have built a large international readership and have already expanded beyond their original story through companion novels and merchandise. Prythian’s seven courts, including the Night and Spring Courts, are led by High Lords and have competing interests, providing the setting for stories and games based on the series.
Screen adaptation rights determine who may turn a book into television or film, and an author’s involvement can vary under such agreements. Tabletop strategy games use rules, cards and player decisions to simulate competition or cooperation, rather than simply retelling a plot.
