The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively debuted the first clip from Our Share of Sand, the debut feature by writer-director Shalini Adnani, ahead of its world premiere in Critics' Week at the Venice Film Festival. Set against the backdrop of India's sand mining crisis, the 95-minute drama follows 12-year-old Maya as she reunites with her estranged father, a sand mining businessman, before an accident and subsequent police investigation force her to confront family secrets and complicity.

The film stars newcomer Maya Mehta in her screen debut alongside Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub and Ellora Torchia, with Adnani drawing on India's real-world river sand extraction crisis, which has worsened erosion and flooding. It is a UK-Greek co-production developed with Film4 and the BFI, produced by Sara Bonakdar for Fifth Mirror Pictures with several other producers, and shot in India; Global Constellation is handling international sales.
