The track, written with guitarist Mark Tremonti, appeared on the band's second album, Human Clay, and went on to become a multi-platinum hit that spent 17 weeks at No. 1, cementing itself as one of Creed's most enduring songs.

Speaking to Songfacts, Stapp explained that the lyrics reflected both an actual dream and his broader aspirations at the time, including an idealistic wish to "create heaven on Earth".
