## Key points

- Palmer’s club form puts his England recall in contention.
- Penalties account for some of his five goals.
- Injuries and limited impact under Tuchel complicate his case.

## Summary

Cole Palmer’s strong start to the season has revived the debate over whether England manager Thomas Tuchel should recall him for November’s Nations League games against Croatia and Spain. His five goals and three assists put him among England’s more productive contenders, though penalties boost that tally and he has yet to score or assist in three appearances under Tuchel.

Palmer has also missed several England camps through injury and withdrew from the latest one after reporting pain while playing for Chelsea; Tuchel has said he misses too many chances to play for England. Morgan Rogers, Jude Bellingham and Eberechi Eze have stronger records under Tuchel, while Phil Foden and Morgan Gibbs-White are also competing for an attacking place. The squad is due to be announced on Friday at 11:00 GMT.
