A year after a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Dhaka, killing 36 people, most of them children, survivors and bereaved families say they are still awaiting answers and accountability. Survivors, including student Nure Jannat Yusha, describe ongoing trauma, fear and disrupted lives, while relatives of victims say a government investigation into the crash has not been made public despite reportedly being submitted last November, fuelling anger and demands for transparency.

The crash occurred on 21 July 2025 after a training aircraft took off from a Bangladesh Air Force base and came down in Dhaka's Uttara area, injuring more than 160 people in what was the country's deadliest aviation disaster in decades. A copy of the unpublished report obtained by BBC Bengali found the pilot lacked adequate training and supervision, ruled out a technical fault despite earlier military claims, and identified widespread building-code violations, including more than 600 structures near Dhaka airport breaching height restrictions. Families, including that of teacher Mahreen Chowdhury who died rescuing pupils, are calling for the full report's release and improved safety measures, warning the school still has inadequate emergency exits for its 800-900 daily students.
