Two men have been jailed after police discovered a cannabis farm worth nearly £1.3 million growing inside a disused BHS store in Slough, which had stood empty since the chain collapsed in 2016. Ajet Begu, 40, and Aryan Turya, 27, were found on the premises when officers forced entry on 28 January, uncovering more than 1,700 plants spread across two floors of the former High Street shop, disguised behind its abandoned exterior.

The plants had a potential yield of 150.27kg, valued by a drug expert at £1,288,020 on the street or £525,000 wholesale. Begu, of Palmers Green, north London, and Turya, of no fixed abode, were charged with producing a class B drug and pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates' Court. Both were sentenced to a year and two months in prison at Reading Crown Court on 21 August, and Thames Valley Police say they are continuing to investigate the factory's suspected links to organised crime.
