- He questioned the reporter’s relevance and put his hands on his shoulders.
- Sky News defended its correspondent’s election coverage.

## Summary

Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed had a tense exchange with Sky News correspondent James Matthews shortly before winning a closely watched Senate race. El-Sayed questioned why he should speak to a reporter who was not registered to vote in Michigan, and put his hands on Matthews’ shoulders during the exchange.

Matthews said he was covering an election with global significance; El-Sayed challenged Sky News’s US audience and asked him to stop following him. Sky News said Matthews was doing his job by asking straightforward questions, and said US election results affect audiences worldwide. The campaign did not respond to a request for comment, and the article says El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers as Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress.
