The Academy of Country Music (ACM) has named Andy Schuon as its incoming chief executive, succeeding Damon Whiteside, who announced his departure from the role in March after six years in charge. The appointment marks a leadership transition for the organisation, which oversees major country music honours including the ACM Awards, at a time when it is seeking to broaden its reach and strengthen ties with artists, members and fans.

Schuon brings extensive media industry experience, having worked in radio and helped launch networks such as MTV2 and REVOLT TV, alongside senior roles at MTV, Warner Bros., Universal Music Group, Ticketmaster, CBS Radio and VH1. Whiteside will remain in post for the rest of 2026 to oversee a smooth handover, with Schuon due to formally take over as CEO in 2027; both Schuon and ACM board member Cris Lacy described the move as an opportunity to grow the Academy's impact and support its next phase of development.
