Acer has unveiled two new laptops, the Swift Blade 14 and Swift Air 16, aimed at rivalling Apple's MacBook Air and Neo on weight and thinness. The Swift Blade 14 weighs just 799g, making it nearly a pound lighter than Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air, though it is slightly thicker, with Acer using carbon fibre in the lid and base to keep the weight down. The announcement highlights growing competition in the ultra-light laptop segment, though the Acer models are unlikely to match Apple's performance given their more modest processors.

The Swift Blade 14 measures as little as 12.95mm thick, runs Intel Wildcat Lake processors ranging from a five-core Core 3 304 to a six-core Core 7 350, and comes with 12GB of RAM, a basic IPS LCD screen as standard or optional sharper OLED panels, three USB-C ports and a headphone jack. The larger Swift Air 16, a bigger sibling to the budget-focused Swift Air 14, weighs 1.5kg, is 13.5mm thick, and offers similar chips alongside Thunderbolt 4, OLED options, up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Pricing has not been announced for either model; the Swift Blade 14 launches in December, while the Swift Air 16 arrives in North America in early 2027 and elsewhere this December.
