Acer has unveiled the Vero 16, a laptop designed with repairability at its core, featuring removable port covers, a detachable external hinge and a tool-free bottom latch. The chassis even has an engraving showing where the battery and motherboard sit, aiming to make servicing and upgrades far simpler than on typical laptops. This matters as manufacturers face growing pressure to reduce electronic waste and extend device lifespans rather than encouraging frequent replacement.

The Vero 16 has a MIL-STD-810H certified chassis made largely of low-carbon aluminium, with a user-replaceable battery and SSD, and Acer says it will support processor upgrades for at least two generations. Specs top out at an Intel Core Ultra X9 388H processor, 32GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, a 16-inch 3K OLED display and a 71Wh battery, alongside a 5MP IR camera with privacy shutter, an SD card reader, HDMI 2.1 and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports; it also qualifies as a Copilot+ PC with various Windows AI features. It launches in early 2026 across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with no confirmed pricing or US availability yet, alongside refreshed Swift Air 16 and Swift Blade 14 laptops.
