## Key points

- Adam Driver will not reprise Adam Sackler.
- HBO’s five-episode Girls revival starts production in 2027.
- Dunham’s memoir discusses Driver’s behaviour during filming.

## Summary

Adam Driver has ruled out returning as Adam Sackler for HBO’s five-episode revival of Girls, while wishing Lena Dunham and the other cast members well. His decision means the revival will proceed without a key actor from the original series, which followed a group of young people navigating life in New York.

Dunham announced the revival with Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Andrew Rannells; production is due to begin in 2027. The original series ran for six seasons from 2012 to 2017. Dunham has said she did not intend Adam to be a romantic hero, and her memoir Famesick describes Driver as “verbally aggressive” during filming; Driver declined to comment on that claim when asked at Cannes.
